Because of the different techniques required to produce our specialized solar filters and lenses, Coronado has its own optical fabrication area. Here the heart of the Coronado Hydrogen Alpha filter, the etalon, is produced. Great care is taken in the assembly of these fine solar filters and telescopes. Most of the mechanical parts that make up the telescope tube, mount and tripod are produced or finished in Meade's huge machine shop. This large space is filled with computerized CNC machines that make the smallest knob to putting the finishing touches on large castings. Each part is checked to insure the highest quality.
