An extraordinary image of the planet Jupiter, showing Jupiter's satellite, Io, and Io's shadow, transiting the disc of the planet. Thierry Legault obtained this CCD image, a composite of 20 images exposed for 0.15-sec. at f/34 plus a set of RGB images, on January 5/6, 2002, using his Meade 12" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.
