The Meade LX85 Illuminated Polar Scope enables highly accurate polar alignment of the LX85 equatorial telescope mount. Accurate polar alignment is essential for precise tracking, especially at high powers, and for guiding during astrophotography session. The LX85 mount can be accurately polar aligned without the use of a polar scope, but it takes more time and effort — time that you could use imaging the night sky instead!
This handy accessory threads directly into the telescope mount's Right Ascension axis. The optics feature a printed reticle that makes aligning on the pole easy and fast. The illuminator lights up the reticle pattern visible in the polar scope, allowing you to easily see the pattern against the dark background sky. The reticle is designed for use with Polaris in the Northern Hemisphere, and also includes a template for positioning the stars of Octans in the Southern Hemisphere. Includes complete instructions.
