This 9 lb counterweight helps to optimize the performance of your Meade LX85 mount when adding heavier gear. Balancing a heavier load is important for smooth and precise motion adjustments and tracking. If you acquire a telescope that is heavier than the one that came with your equatorial mount and tripod, you'll likely need additional counterweights to optimize the balance of the system. You may also need an extra counterweight if you add a lot of heavy astrophotography gear to your telescope to help balance heavier camera-equipped loads. This weight features steel construction for durability, with a white power coat finish to match the LX85 mount itself. It is designed to fit the 20mm diameter counterweight shaft of the LX85 mount, but this also means it will be compatible with any other mount that uses the same 20mm shaft size.
