The Meade Losmandy Dovetail Rail Assemblies provide a robust connection between ACF telescopes and mounts equipped with a compatible Losmandy-type saddle. Made of machined and anodized aluminum, the rail system is useful for an older f/10 ACF optical tube that did not come with dovetail mounting rails, or in the case of the 8" f/10, came with a narrower, Vixen-style rail. Another application for this rail assembly is when "de-forking" the optical tube from a fork mount to use instead on an equatorial mount that has a compatible Losmandy-style dovetail saddle. Installing the rail assembly on the bottom of the optical tube in the factory drilled and tapped holes allows this easy conversion. Can also be used on top of the optical tube to hold accessories, such as a piggybacked camera or guide scope.
Designed and Manufactured in North America, each rail assembly includes a pair of aluminum radius blocks that fit the outer contour of the specified optical tube and provide a flat attachment surface for the dovetail rail.
NOTE: These rails are designed for only the f/10 optical tubes, not the f/8 versions.
