It is likely at some point that you will attach accessories to the front or rear of your Meade ACF or older Meade SCT telescope that could throw it out of balance. It might be a camera for astrophotography or a heavy 2" eyepiece and Barlow lens, or a glass solar filter — or a combination of multiple items. But any resulting imbalance can be quickly corrected with this handy multi-weight balancing system.
The Meade Tube Balance Weight System consists of a set of three cylindrical steel counterweights that slide along an included aluminum rail. It installs on the bottom of the optical tube with included mounting screws that thread into existing holes in the scope. Installation takes just minutes, and no drilling is required. The weight set includes one 3-lb weight, one 2-lb weight, and one 1-lb weight, for a total of 6 lb. One or more of the weights can be positioned along the rail to perfectly counterbalance the added load. You just loosen the weight's knurled thumbscrew locking bolt to slide the weight as needed along the rail, then tighten the bolt again when the weight is in the desired position.
Tube Balance Weight Systems are available to fit different sizes of Meade optical tubes. This model (#55768) is designed to fit 16" LX200 Advanced Coma Free and older Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain models.
Additional 2-lb weights are available separately (#07300).
