The Meade Super Giant Field Tripod gives your 16" Meade LX200 or LX600 the research-grade foundation needed for the most demanding applications such as extremely high power observing and astrophotography with CCD/CMOS cameras.
The tripod features super strong and exceptionally rigid 4" diameter steel legs for excellent vibration damping, ideal when using your telescopes at high powers. Large leg locking thumbscrews (two per leg) allow for leveling adjustment and a modest amount of height adjustment, even in the cold when wearing gloves. Note that because of the extreme weight of the system, it is best to level and set the height of the tripod first before attaching the telescope on top. Do not attempt to adjust the leg height when the telescope is mounted on top of the tripod.
This tripod is not a standard photo tripod, and is only compatible with the 16” Meade LX200 and LX600 models. For telescopes smaller than the 16" ACF, consider either the Giant Field Tripod (#07017) or the Standard Field Tripod (#07020).
