This 26-lb counterweight helps optimize the performance of your Meade LX850 mount by allowing you to balance any attached telescope for smooth, precise motion adjustments. If you acquire a telescope that is heavier than the one that came with your equatorial mount and tripod, you'll likely need an additional counterweight to optimize balance of the system. You may also need an extra counterweight if you add a lot of heavy astrophotography gear to your system, such as a focal reducer, filter wheel, and guide scope, or if you add a second telescope to the mount.
This counterweight features stainless steel construction for ultimate durability and has a classy, brushed finish. It threads directly onto the counterweight shaft of the LX850 mount for a secure, slip-free connection. There is no lock knob to catch on cables that could ruin your tracking or guiding performance or potentially damage the mount's motors.
